Ultrasonic rhinoplastywhat to ask.
The word "ultrasonic" describes the instruments used to work on the bones of the nose. It helps explain one part of the operation, but on its own it does not explain the surgical plan or the change that can be achieved in each case.

The instruments are one part of the procedure
The piezoelectric device converts electrical energy into mechanical vibrations. The surgeon can use it to cut or reshape bone. Dr. Suárez describes the use of these instruments in his information about rhinoplasty.
Planning also takes cartilage, skin, breathing and the relationship between the nose and the rest of the face into account. Knowing the name of an instrument therefore does not allow an individual result to be predicted. A nose that has already undergone surgery also requires assessment of the tissues and healing from the previous procedure.

Ultrasonic, functional and revision
These terms answer different questions. "Ultrasonic" refers to the instruments. "Functional" indicates that the procedure addresses problems affecting breathing. "Revision" means that there has been a previous rhinoplasty. They are not necessarily mutually exclusive options that the patient must choose between before a consultation.
What you can ask during the consultation
It is useful to explain what concerns you about the appearance of your nose and whether you have difficulty breathing. Based on the examination, the doctor can clarify which structures would need treatment, why he proposes a particular approach and the limitations of the requested change.
Questions about recovery and risks remain necessary whichever instruments are used. Swelling may be part of recovery. Possible complications include bleeding, infection and healing difficulties; in some cases, another procedure may be required. These complications are exceptional. During the consultation, following medical assessment, the risks are explained individually according to each patient's characteristics. The technique does not remove the need for an individual assessment or allow identical recovery to be promised for everyone.
Information on rhinoplasty, recovery and risks on this website helps you prepare for that conversation. The medical recommendation is made after the case has been assessed.
